The Royal Navy 1866 - 1874 William George Orchard was my mother's grandfather. Although he only spent eight years in the Royal Navy, I found that he must have had quite an adventurous time for a comparatively young man, even being awarded a medal for one of the country's less well know military campaigns. He was attached to four ships, each of which forms a chapter in his story. Click on the Chapter which interests you or read the whole story.
