lost 1914-1920 1917 17th May SS Kilmaho 2,155 tonnes Cardiff-Dunkirk Sunk by
Submarine 21 lives lost 10 miles NW (W) of the Lizard, Cornwall. Cargo of railway
components. Ship torpedoed by German submarine UB20 at 11p.m.. Only survivor
of the total crew of 21 (including the Master) was an Arab fireman who was picked
up by patrol boat six hours later. The body of the bosun, James Thomas Cruse,
was also recovered. UB20, captained by Kapitanleutnant Walther Schieger, also
sank RMS Lusitania, May 7th 1915.
